Maintenant 17 - A Journal of Contemporary Dada Writing and Art

In Maintenant 17 nearly 250 artists from more than 40 countries explore the concept of the end of both war and peace, exploring provocative outsider ideas as dada has done since its inception.
With searing cover art by Uta Kaxniashvili, this issue of the renowned journal elaborates on dada’s original premise as an antiwar movement.
When a war ends provisionally, the agreement is called a ceasefire. But when peace ends, there is only war. War and peace are co-dependent. Perhaps it is now time for a “Peacefire.”

The Maintenant series established in 2008 in New York is archived in leading institutions worldwide, including Museum of Modern Art New York.

A Berlin Odyssey into the Unreal

I am pleased that my paper collage "Burgerhaus" was used on the poster of this GlueHeads collage group exhibition with 15 Artists at verbeke foundation in Belgium.

GlueHeads (2014-2019) was a contemporary collage project bringing together a group of collage artists. Anelor Robin started GlueHeads as a project in 2014. This papercollage “Burgerhaus” was made at the first GlueHead session in Berlin X-Berg.
For each edition of the GlueHeads project, curator Anelor Robin brought together artists working with different collage techniques. During the daytime, the artists created the collages that were shown to the audience at the end of the day and that eventually ended up in the next edition of the GlueHeads zine.
The project GlueHeads died along with Anelor’s Robins untimely death 2019.

Group Exhibition curated by Marta Yanik (Poland) at the Vintage Festival in Birr, Ireland and the Praga Cultural Centre in Warsaw, Poland

The history of the world is the history of migration; and this is a phenomenon which increasingly affects each of us, in almost every corner of the Earth. People migrate for many reasons, some in search of peace and security, and others to earn more money and live better lives.
Twin exhibitions in both Ireland and Poland have brought together collage artists from different countries and cultures, asking them to approach the topic of “migration” and reflect on it through their artistic practice.

Illustration and Description of my work in the article: Mind the Gap - Collision and Context in Haiku and Collage by Rod T. Boyer in Kolaj Magazine #32, Page 14ff., 2021.

"Take for example the collage by Denis Kollasch entitled Schreiseeadler. The bird on the branch within an environment is something we understand. The head, replaced by what appears to be a green phonograph horn, is unnatural and so unexpected. Disjunction is at play (we expected a bird´s head, we got a sound funnel). The viewer ist left to intuit the connection, to close the gap..."
